It’s now official. Nigeria’s former Vice President, and Waziri of Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar has been declared winner of the just concluded PDP Presidential primaries. The Intels co-founder is set to battle President Mohammadu Buhari come February 2019.
Atiku Abubakar (GCON) was declared winner on Sunday morning after polling a total of 1532 votes, ahead of his closest rivals – governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state and Senate President Bukola Saraki. Tambuwal and Saraki came second and third with 693 and 317 votes respectively.
The PDP National Convention Planning Committee Chairman, and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa made the announcement after the keenly contested democratic process.
Other Results at the PDP Presidential Primaries
Other candidates who participated in the election include former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (158), Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo (111) and former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido (96).
Also, former PDP National Chairman and Governor of Kaduna, Ahmed Makarfi polled 74, Turaki (65), followed by former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa (48), David Mark (35), Jonah Jang(19) and Baba Ahmed (5).
