One of the world’s most popular social media platform, Instagram faced one of it’s worst crises in recent times. The Facebook-owned media sharing and messaging app was down for most users globally for over 45 minutes on Wednesday.
Just about 9am, there was outrage by users across the world. Users went on other platforms like Facebook and Twitter to complain of not being able to access the application. When Jainda checked few minutes later, the feed was unable to be refreshed by the app. But about an hour later, everything seems to be okay again.
Meanwhile, the hashtag #InstagramDown trended on twitter globally beyond midday Wednesday. As usual, while some users are gritting their teeth over the frustration caused by the event, others however are making fun over the whole incident.
Addressing the issue minutes after the restoration of the service, an Instagram spokesperson told CNBC on Wednesday –
“We’re aware that some users had trouble accessing Instagram. We have worked quickly and the issue is now resolved,”
