To Lead Foundation Laying Ceremony
All is now set for the commencement of the long anticipated Central Worship Center in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. Jainda.com can authoritatively report the arrival of the head of arguably Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal church. Pastor Adeboye touched down Uyo at noon. The foundation laying ceremony is set to commence by 2PM Nigerian Time.
According to the State Governor who also claims to be the spiritual leader of the state, the project, in part is finaced by external sources. He said:
“We have found favour in the eyes of the Lord, and it’s instructive to note that Religious bodies, non-profit organizations and even individuals from all over the world heeded our call for support to actualize this dream”.
Meanwhile, there has been widespread disapproval of the project by a good number of the state residents. Jainda while monitoring public reactions on local radio stations notes a strong criticism by a majority of the people.
Most callers accuse the Governor of cluelessness for “wasting” huge public funds for a project with little or no economic benefit to the state.
Note that this is coming at a time when the National Bureau of Statistics ranks Akwa Ibom Second on the list of states with highest Unemployment rate. Akwa Ibom State hit its all time high of 36.58% according to the report.
Notably, Akwa Ibom State is the highest oil producing state in Nigeria. Also, the Governor rode to electoral victory with an “industrialization” mantra.
